Army shooting game get boys to read. CAG SPIL has solved the problem of making young boys in primary school motivated to practice reading.
The solution is controversial amongst teachers. An militaristic shooting game, where children as young as 5-6 years old are to shoot machine guns and missiles, causing major damange. Critics say it could be problamtic to stimulate such destructive
behavior at this young age. However this is not the opinion of the developer of the game, Lars Høgsted. "Studies indicates
that violent action games can develop childrens cognitive skills. Moreover it is a question if it doesn't make more damage
to a child not to practics reading, since reading is fundamental to all other school subjects.".
Consequently today CAG SPIL launches an issue of the game for iOS, which is used in a lot of primary schools in
Denmark. The launch is world wide, since the game has been translated to English - the secondary language for all Danes and other countries.

What is Militærskolen?
Militærskolen is both a fun army shooting game and a serious reading game to train the 300 most common English sight words defined by Dr. Fry (and/or, if you like, the 120 most common Danish sight words).
Intro
The game is designed to appeal especially to boys - with shots and explosions, but no blood.
No humans are shot in the game - only army equipment and robots. Read our design codex for more information of the game design.
In the game random words are read aloud. These are code words for the enemies to be shot. Tasks get increasingly difficult and are divided into missions, that are honored with a promotion or a service medal when completed.
